Fragrance Meets Skincare With Our Milky Formulation

Fragrance Meets Skincare With Our Milky Formulation | Brûmée – Alcohol-Free Fine Fragrances

There is a considerable gap between the skincare and fragrance industry. In the past few years, the skincare industry has moved towards being more transparent about ingredient sourcing and manufacturing processes. In contrast, the fragrance industry continues to remain discreet, often hiding ingredients. In this article, we explore how our scents bridge the gap between fragrance and skincare - through ingredient transparency and innovative formulations.

The Harmful Effects of Ethanol-based Perfume

Ethanol-based perfumes have some obvious disadvantages to our health. This harsh denatured alcohol - ‘alcohol denat’ on your ingredient list - can strip and weaken the skin, causing severe irritation, especially for sensitive skin types.

Ethanol-based perfumes are known for having a negative environmental impact, with synthetic chemical compounds contaminating waterways, aquatic wildlife and leading to the terrible mistreatment of animals. All these negatives highlight the benefits of our unique alcohol-free formulation, which removes all the damaging effects that alcohol can have on our health and the planet.

How do we achieve this?

When developing our natural fragrances, the challenge we faced was obtaining a safe and stable formula that enhanced the olfactory sensation and preserved the delicate aroma. We've worked hard to create a new kind of perfume - transformed into micro-emulsion with the WPE® patent.

Water is a very challenging base to use. However, with innovative methods and extensive research, we were able to suspend fragrance oil in water. The WPE® procedure has allowed us to create alcohol-free perfumes with improved tenacity, shelf life, and product penetration through the upper epidermis layer. The result is a precious liquid with a milky consistency reminiscent of skincare products. Our innovative formulations gently hydrate the skin and hair whilst avoiding the most commonly used solvent - ethanol. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

A milky texture that applies like skincare

With Brûmée, Dr Anne Claire wanted to establish change, bridging the gap between skincare and fragrance. She developed innovative and unique fragrance formulations that are kind to the skin and hair. The water content in our perfumes will nourish and hydrate the skin, whilst their aromatic layers from essential oils will mature and reveal themselves throughout the day.

The uniquely milky appearance of our fragrances means that just like you would use a body lotion on your skin for it to absorb, you can spray our fragrances all over the skin, rubbing them in gently, allowing them to nourish and scent your skin at the same time.
